What is tele-therapy / e-counseling?

This an option to receive counseling remotely from your home or another place of your convenience via a secure, HIPAA compliant Zoom video call.

is everything i say in a counseling session confidential?

For the most part, yes, counselors are bound by confidentiality. However, all therapists are required by law to report certain items. If you are a threat to yourself, if you have verbalized an intent to harm someone else or if another person has threatened to harm you, or any disclosure of abuse to a child or the elderly. For additional explanation, here is an article detailing limits of confidentiality. [Read article Here]

How do I schedule an appointment?

To schedule an appointment, you must first register in our secure client portal. Once registered, please fill out the intake forms before scheduling an appointment. Once you have scheduled an appointment, you will receive a welcome email from Headway, our insurance / billing partner. Insurance and payment information required by Headway must be completed prior to your first session.

how often do i schedule sessions?

That completely depends on your personal situation. Sometimes a client only needs one or two sessions to work through an issue. Other times, a chronic situation or issue requires weekly support. Many clients choose to set up weekly or bi-weekly appointments until they have relief. Sometimes clients schedule sessions with their therapists every few months as a check-in or as new situations arise. That is a personal choice that you can discuss with your therapist and find what works best for you.

Should I self-pay or use my insurance to pay for sessions?

It is a personal preference. Using your insurance plan requires providers to provide a diagnosis code to your insurance company for billing purposes. If you do not have an insurance plan that we accept or if you choose to ‘self pay’ and not have your insurance company billed, the cost is $150 per 55 minute session. For self-pay clients who are out of network, we can provide a superbill for you to send to your insurance company - you may be partially reimbursed by your insurance. Please check with your insurance company prior to your initial session.

How much does a session cost?

That depends on your insurance plan. Most plans require that an annual deductible be met first. If you haven’t met your deductible, you will be charged the full contracted amount agreed upon by your insurance company. If you have already met your deductible or you have a non-deductible plan, the majority of the cost is covered by your plan and you are responsible for a co-payment. Check with your insurance plan. You can also use this insurance benefits verifier, which will let you know what your co-pay amount per session will be: Check My Benefits
